Members travel to NYC, pick up World Trade Center artifact
Tue. Aug 23rd 2011
After working with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey for nearly 24 months, the PA released a section of Steel Beam to the HVFD today. The 36" long, 122 pound beam will be displayed at the new station in memory of the 343 firefighters that gave their lives on 9/11. Chief Troy Blair, President Dennis Llewellyn, and Firefighter Taylor Goodman made the two-day trip that also included stops at FDNY Rescue 2 and Rescue 1. The artifact will be publicly unveiled at the county's 9/11 memorial service in September.
