An extrication demo a couple of weeks ago left The Deuce with several vehicles to use for vehicle fire training. This included an old RV that provided many BTUs for the members to tame.

In an annual event for the men and women of The Deuce, the personnel gathered for the stew sale. Many hours of hard work were put in by 3/4 of the departments members, resulting in a profit for the volunteers.

Weyers Cave (Augusta County, VA) took delivery of their new KME Rescue-Pumper a couple of months ago. Engine 53 was on display, for Slagle's Fire Equipment, at the Virginia Fire Chiefs Conference in Virginia Beach this week.

Company 2 (Huguenot) had 4 extrication equipment dealers out on Sunday to demo their products. Members from "The Deuce", Company 1 (Powhatan) and Company 4 (Fine Creek) attended, and cut several styles of vehicles to evaluate the effectiveness of each system.

In what has become a popular holiday tradition, the members of the department sponsored their annual Santa Breakfast, where the kids (and adults!) not only had the chance to eat a home-cooked breakfast, but also see Santa arrive by fire engine.

Thanks to diligent work by Company 2's own Assistant Chief Troy Blair, working in conjunction with County Assistant Chief Phil Warner, Powhatan County Fire Department is pleased to announce that the web-based program "I AM RESPONDING" is now working for our members.

Powhatan County Fire Administration announced today that Powhatan County was awarded a grant from Philip Morris for more than $15,000. This money is going to purchase a second Auto Pulse for the county, which will be carried on EMS-2.

On July 17th, Deuce members Ben Zimmerman, Toni Wickham and Brandon Johnson partnered up with members from Companies 1 and 4 to spend quality time educating over 75 children at the Powhatan County Library.
