Just before midnight on Thursday, October 20th, Huguenot's new Tanker was delivered to the firehouse. Tanker 2 is a 2016 Smeal on a Spartan MetroStar chassis, carrying 2500 gallons of water and equipped with a 1250 GPM Waterous CSU pump.

On Thursday the Huguenot VFD hosted the ongoing Powhatan Firefighter II class for the Fire Protection Systems session. Chief Blair and Captain Berry brought them through the basic canned program and then added upon it with activities to see what was on the slides.

Powhatan citizens are reminded of burning restrictions that take effect each spring. These are developed and enforced by the Virginia Department of Forestry and the local Fire Marshal's Office. These are in place due to the increased risk of a fire escaping control.

After an exhaustive bid process, our department members are excited to announce that Powhatan Fire & EMS administration has entered in a contract with CW Williams & Company of Rocky Mount, NC to supply the HVFD with our first new fire engine in 23 years! CW Williams represents Rosenbauer America.

On Friday, October 26th members James Spicer, Tom Berry, and Jordan Fisher did some lifting and moving training with high pressure airbags, jacks, and cribbing. This was an impromptu training event for folks there that morning, to maintain proficiency.

Today, members of the department spent the entire day perfecting their skills in vehicle extrication. As we operate the only heavy rescue company in the county, we require our members to be as competent in their vehicle rescue and technical rescue skills as they are in firefighting.

On Sunday, September 9th, three members of the Huguenot VFD completed the 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb being held in Richmond, Virginia at the SunTrust building. These members climbed 22 flights of stairs 5 times for a total of 110 flights, the same number of flights as the world trade center building...

This past weekend, Huguenot members Thomas Talbott, Tyler Duty, Michaela Wright, and Morgan Kingston attended the Captial City 400 at Richmond International Raceway, where they were part of the public safety contingent that presented the American flag prior to the race.
